Marginshot: Screenshot & Markup — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 19 October 2026
Marginshot captures and edits screenshots on your computer. It is made by Spyridon Pikoulas. Contact: spyridwn.pd@gmail.com.
Your screenshots and projects
Marginshot captures a page when you ask it to. Screenshots can contain anything visible in that page, including personal or confidential information. The page URL is checked temporarily to detect navigation during capture, but is not saved in your project. Marginshot does not continuously capture your browsing or upload screenshots, page contents or editable projects to our servers.
Saved projects, including their name, dates, dimensions, original image and editing instructions, stay in the extension’s local browser storage. Page URLs and titles are not saved as project metadata. An editable project retains the original pixels, including areas you have covered in the editor. Covering an area in an exported image does not erase it from the saved editable project. Review the exported result before sharing it.
You can delete individual projects or clear all saved projects in Marginshot. There is no automatic project-deletion schedule. Removing the extension or losing its browser profile can remove its stored projects; keep exported copies of work you want to retain.
Exports are saved through Chrome’s downloads system or copied to the clipboard at your request. Other applications or clipboard services you use may access copied images. Saving into a synced folder shares the file with the storage provider you choose. Marginshot does not remove your exported files when you delete a project or uninstall the extension.
Local allowance and optional usage counts
Local project and export-job markers prevent a retry or another export format from spending the free allowance twice. The allowance follows your device’s local calendar month. These operational markers remain on your device.
Usage sharing is off unless you choose to enable it. Marginshot’s local allowance and action counts remain on your device unless sharing is enabled. When enabled, Marginshot sends at most one small batch a day containing only the UTC day, extension version and counts of completed, failed or cancelled captures, edited exports/copies, free-limit encounters and checkout starts. Local markers count first successful actions and the first limit encounter once.
No installation or account identifier, email, image, source URL, title, project name, file path, image dimensions, captured text or operational capture/job ID is sent. Our database stores totals by day, version and action only. Cloudflare delivers requests and processes network metadata such as IP addresses as a hosting provider; our application does not log requests or store IP addresses in its database.
These counts evaluate an eight-week launch run. Collection stops at its end, and the aggregate data is deleted 30 days later. Turning sharing off clears unsent counts and does not affect capture, editing, exports or Pro. Purchases and financial records use their separate providers and retention. The public website has a separate analytics disclosure.
Payments
Pro is sold through ExtensionPay, with card payments handled by Stripe. ExtensionPay receives the buyer’s email and purchase information. Stripe receives payment details; Marginshot never receives your card number. It keeps its purchase key and status in browser storage and contacts ExtensionPay to unlock or restore Pro. ExtensionPay’s library uses Chrome sync storage for its purchase key, cached purchase information and installation time when available, so Chrome may synchronize those fields across your signed-in browsers if sync is enabled. Screenshots, editable projects, allowance records and optional usage counts do not use sync storage. Financial records are separate from your locally stored screenshots and projects.
Limited use and sharing
We do not sell your data or use it for advertising. Screenshot and project information is used only to provide capture and editing. Optional action totals evaluate and improve Marginshot. We use the providers named above for measurement hosting and to sell and verify Pro. Data is not used for creditworthiness or lending. We follow the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
