CodeFill: Syntax Highlighting for Code — Terms of Service

Last updated: 26 October 2026

These terms are between you and Spyridon Pikoulas, who makes CodeFill, an add-on for Google Docs™. Installing or using CodeFill means you accept them.

The service

CodeFill highlights code in the document you open it in, as you ask. Lines you select become a block: the paragraphs are replaced by a one-cell table holding the same text, one line per paragraph, in the font, size and colors you chose, on a shaded background. Blank lines at the start and end of the selection are dropped, and the lines’ own formatting (headings, list bullets, indents, links) is not kept. A snippet you paste in the sidebar is inserted as a new block after the paragraph your cursor is in. Highlighting a block again rewrites its font and colors. CodeFill marks each block with a named range so it can recognize it later. Edit > Undo and File > Version history in Docs show and restore the document as it was before.

CodeFill highlights with highlight.js, open-source software under the BSD 3-Clause License, whose license is in the add-on and at pikoulas.com/codefill/licenses. Automatic language detection can be wrong; choose the language in the sidebar if it is.

Free use and the one-time purchase

Each Google account gets 10 new code blocks free in total, fully highlighted. A block is new when it is made from selected lines or a pasted snippet. Highlighting a block again uses none, and so does a run that is refused or fails before changing anything. A block copied or pasted to another place counts as new when it is highlighted there.

After that, CodeFill is a $9 one-time unlock per Google account for unlimited blocks, paid through Stripe at the price shown before you pay, plus any tax due. There is no subscription or automatic renewal. Google’s service limits apply to free and paid use.

Any payment can be refunded within 14 days: write to the address below with the Google account email used for the purchase. A full refund or dispute removes the unlock when a later billing check finds it; checks are normally cached for six hours, so this is not instant.

Your part

Use CodeFill lawfully and within Google’s terms. Check what a run changed before you rely on the result. Don’t try to get around the free limit or the purchase check.

Warranty and liability

CodeFill is provided as it is, without warranty of any kind. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability is limited to what you paid for CodeFill in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here limits rights you have as a consumer that cannot be limited.

Changes

We may change these terms or CodeFill’s price. A new price applies to future purchases. The date at the top shows the latest version. Danish law governs these terms.
