Photos to Slides alternatives
A useful photo importer should let you check the images and order, keep private photos private, and show the price before a large import. Here are the differences we could verify on 17 October 2026.
Photos to Slides
Clay’s Photos to Slides is a substantial, actively updated alternative: its listing shows over a million installs and was updated on 14 October. We opened version 85 in a test presentation.
It offers Google Photos™ and Drive selection, multiple layouts, ordering, captions and title/date dividers. Its first-use screen limits the free import to ten images and lists review/individual selection in its subscription features. For Drive images, the current dialog requires public link-viewing access. Its Purchase screen offers both a non-recurring month and subscriptions. Prices are localized, so check its current offer for your account.
We did not test its output quality, paid import or recovery. Older negative reviews do not prove the current version still fails, and a one-time purchase is not unique to PhotoFill.
Manual insertion or a script
For a few images, Google Slides™’ own Insert > Image controls are enough. For a Drive folder, a short Apps Script can create one slide per image. The free script in our photo-import guide is an option if you are comfortable running code. It has no job recovery or preview and needs access to the folder.
PhotoFill
I make PhotoFill. Its focus is a complete import you can review first:
- Private selected Drive images, Google Photos™ selections or local JPEG/PNG files.
- Thumbnail/layout preview, reorder and remove before the import, available in the free sample.
- A cap check before a large job, with the $4.99 non-renewing seven-day pass shown upfront.
- A paused import you can reopen in its original presentation for seven days, preserving images already inserted. Local files need to be selected again.
New users get 12 successful image insertions free in total. Existing users retain 30/day. Pro is $4.99 for seven days, $5.99/month or $29/year. Every layout and full quality are included in the sample; Pro removes PhotoFill’s allowance cap, subject to Google’s service limits.
A job supports up to 500 images. See the source formats and limits before picking.
